NBiOT

Narrowband IoT (NBiOT) is a wireless internet of things protocol that uses low-power wide area network technology. The units operate via a mobile carrier network and has been designed to increase the coverage beyond existing cellular technologies. Also, depending on the upload frequencies required, battery life of several years is achievable. For simple single device monitoring, the NBiOT devices are also considerably cheaper than conventional remote access data loggers and telemetry systems.

A wide range of sensors are available, including air temperature, humidity, level, soil moisture, flow, pressure, distance, location and many others. Data from devices can be displayed within a number of web sites and platforms for visualisation.

For installations where multiple sites are required, it may be more cost effective to use a LoraWan network; as long as all monitoring sites are within radio transmission range of the gateway. With NBiOT units, each site requires a SIM card.
